On Tuesday, March 3, members of the Clear2Connect Coalition met with staff in the offices of Senators Boozman, Durbin, Lankford and Gardner, as well as Congresswoman Eshoo and Congressman Quigley, to advocate for the protection of access to Internet Protocol Captioned Telephone Service (IP CTS), also known as captioned telephone service, for the d/Deaf and hard of hearing communities. Representatives from the World Institute on Disability (WID), the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities, VetsFirst and captioned telephone user and Vietnam veteran Robert Richardson spoke out on behalf of the Coalition on the critical importance of implementing quality metrics and standards before approving Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) only providers of captioned telephone services.

The Clear2Connect Coalition appreciates the time that Congressional staff took to meet with our members. Moving forward, we will continue our advocacy through meetings with key legislative offices on the Hill. For more information on our continued advocacy, please subscribe to our email updates.
